| Description |
Short Song Description:
Smooth jazz easy listening describing the longed for reunion of Bruce with his son upon the fulfillment of Bruce's vision.
|
Long Song Description:
Bruce composed this song for his eight year old son, Joshua, as Bruce was falling to homeless disability initiating his wounded healer's journey and their separation in 2001. Now as all Bruce's visions are coming to fruition and he is healed and empowered, Joshua's healing begins.
Bruce won his Vioxx lawsuit settlement just in time to support Joshua during his first year of college studying meteorology at Florida State University. The two of them are e-mailing regularly, but have yet to meet in person again. Trust takes time to rebuild and the journey continues. The next song expresses Bruce's anticipated emotion upon his approaching physical reunion with Joshua.
"Joy!"

Story Behind the Song:
"The real key to the final stage of the hero's journey is "the elixer." What does the hero bring back with him from the special world to share upon his return? Whether it's shared within the community or the audience, bringing back the elixer is the hero's final test. It proves he's been there, it serves as an example for others, and it shows above all that death can be overcome. The elixer may even have the power to restore life in the ordinary world."
-Christopher Vogler, "The Writer's Journey"

Joshua
Bruce Anderson 2008
Joshua,
Son are you lonely,
Tell me 'bout all the things that happened in your life,
Joshua,
Somebody told me,
That you feel sad and blue without me by your side,
Joshua don't you hang your head and cry,
My son you know it's just a little while,
"Til you and I together we will watch the seagulls fly,
Then we will spread our wings and fly into the sky,
Joshua,
Life isn't easy,
Sometimes we make mistakes then stop to wonder why,
Joshua,
If you forgive me,
I'll do the best I can to open up your life,
Joshua don't you hang your head and cry,
My son you know it's just a little while,
"Til you and I together we will watch the seagulls fly,
Then we will spread our wings and fly into the sky,
